I recently attended a MAID ceremony for my brother-in-law. It was solemn, respectful, had a caring context for family and friends, pastor and medical staff. There were tears, some laughter before hand, a prayer, eulogy and songs - then my brother-law said goodbye to everyone - then the two stage process that quietly ended my brother-in-laws suffering - AS HE WANTED!

For the life of me, I cannot understand the ignorance, hate, fear and un-informed hullabaloo over MAID in Canada. I can grok a philosophical objection, barely get my head around the various theological objections but the willful malicious lies - nope, that tears it for me.

Thank you for this essay relating your experiences with the NOs.
